EARTH DAY 2020

Due to the continued stay at home orders we aren’t able to gather physically to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. However, staying at home presents an opportunity for more flexibility to celebrate Earth Day in your own way. There are so many ways to celebrate and below I will present a few suggestions. My hope it that this 50th anniversary we will start a new phase of our conscious behavior where we

think AND act as if Every Day is Earth Day!

GET OUTSIDE AND ENJOY THE NATURAL WORLD- There’s no better way to understand the importance of what we are protecting than spending time in the beauty of nature. We are so blessed here in the Black Hills to have so many places to choose from. Take it one step further by perhaps engaging in an activity such as picking up litter on your walk, planting a tree or building a bird or pollinator house. Take pictures of your outings and then share how you celebrated Earth Day on social media. Remember to use a creative #EARTHDAY hashtag. On May 9-23rd join Keep Hot Springs Beautiful Great American Clean- up.

BE CREATIVE WITH EARTH DAY THEME: Write a poem, a story, a song, or do some art based on your experience outdoors or what ever inspirations you have & share with friends and/or on social media with your favorite Earth day hashtag. My new inspiration was to create postcards from repurposed paperboard and magazines to send to friends and family.

SEE IN YOUR MINDS EYE THE PLANET AS HEALTHY AND WHOLE

WITH ALL LIVING THINGS LIVING IN BALANCE.

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards Him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
