This is a very stressful time for many people. Keeping up with our practices is a wonderful way to keep your center in the eye of this storm. If you need support, please do not hesitate to reach out! I am back in Hot Springs, staying home in self-quarantine until the 26th as I have been traveling through many airports on my way home from Bali. I am available via email, phone or text.
Beyond all the normal health recommendations you have seen over and over again, remember your mental health is also important!! As we all know, our immune system is taxed when we are stressed. So while you are home practicing social distancing, please continue to do what you love that supports your well-being! Whether that means staying off social media & news channels for longer periods of time then please do so. If that means spending time outdoors getting a little fresh air and time in nature please do so, If It means moving the body...walking, doing yoga, dancing, what ever makes you happy- do it!! if it means listening to great music, mantra or anything else you love- do it! If it means talking to loved one on the phone- do it!! Warm baths, art projects, reading, etc...
I trust you are doing these things already, however, its also really easy to get sucked into watching news channels or social media. Here's hoping these tools are supporting your well-being, not disrupting it.
If you are feeling alone and don't know what to do, you can check out some of the many free online tools, community gatherings happening in the virtual world. I get numerous emails each day with these offers and have been sharing on my FB site (both Gaia Services and my personal page.) I've been taking some online yoga classes too. My favorite of these offerings right now are two lovely online global mantra practices both of which are on facebook:
1) Chanting the healing mantra, Ra Ma Da Sa, Sa Say So Hung every morning at 9am MST with Snatam Kaur. It is part of a larger global sadhana that started a few weeks ago and is continuing. This is a wonderful meditation/mantra for healing. https://www.facebook.com/snatamkaur/
2) The other is chanting the Gayatri Mantra with Deva Premal & Miten.
There is this upcoming event: https://www.facebook.com/events/199348964814180/ tomorrow on Saturday March 21 at: 2pm PST, 3pm MST, 4pm CTS, 5pm EST,
But they actually have been chanting this daily on their facebook page. www.facebook.com/devapremalmiten. Even though this isn't a Kundalini yoga/Gurmukhi Mantra, I'm loving to continue to chant this mantra that was one of the main mantras the Balinese recite in their daily prayers.
Today is the Vernal or Spring Equinox, the time in nature where there is now equal day & equal night. It is a time of balance! This equinox is the perfect time of planting seeds for new life. Consider taking some special time today to reflect on how you want to create more balance in your life & with all of life~ What new inspirations do you want to plant seeds of your intention? Perhaps contemplating, writing, drawing or ritualizing these intentions to create more energy toward what you want to cultivate. Then on Sunday, 3/22 it is 'World Water Day', public events have been cancelled, but i hope you will consider connecting with water in some way. Whether in your home or outside to offer your prayers to the water and for clean water for all. So many life affirming ways to stay connected to self, others and spirit.
~ May you stay happy, healthy, hopeful & peaceful~
Blessings,
Rajni
